Easter 2011

We spent Easter at home this year and it rained ALL WEEKEND LONG!!!  I know April showers bring May flowers, but I feel like we may be sprouting gills and fins soon to adapt!  Forecast says it is supposed to rain for the next 36 hours as well :(  I for one will gladly welcome the sunshine when it decides to reappear!

Yucky weather aside, we had a great Easter weekend spending time as a family and of course remembering the sacrifice that was made for all of us and celebrating the Risen King!

Rain, rain, and more rain....
Wesley's Easter Basket

The Easter bunny came!

He went straight for the eggs - called them 'ball' :)

Looking at all the goodies

Corey and I were both tired of that Monkey car by the end of the day (it made LOTS of noise)!

New puzzle

I tried to get a few pictures of Wesley with his Easter basket after church, but as you all know it can be difficult with a toddler!  I did capture a few good ones:

Family pic :)

Since it rained all day, we had to hunt Easter eggs inside - Wesley didn't seem to mind.  He liked picking up all the eggs and putting them in the basket - then would dump the whole thing out and start over again :)  He also found a new use for his basket!

We spent the rest of the day just lounging around the house in our PJs

And we of course missed all of our family in Little Rock - here are our nephews and niece after hunting eggs at Memaws (where it was nice and sunny!)

And just because it makes my heart happy, here is a side-by-side of Wesley from last Easter and this Easter :)

"And Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name." ~ Romans 1:4-5

Razorback Spring Game

This past Saturday Corey, Corey's dad Rick, Wesley, and I went to the Razorback spring game - it was the first time we had taken Wesley to a Razorback sporting event (other than a tailgate), and he loved it!  At first I think he was a bit scared because the music and announcers were so loud in the stadium, but he quickly warmed up and then wouldn't sit still!  He wanted to climb up and down the bleachers - of course there were lots of other kids there that he was trying to get to :)  We only stayed about half the game, but it was fun to spend some time outside enjoying the spring weather and to teach Wesley to call the Hogs!

16 Months!

Wesley is 16 months old today!  Two of my close friends have had babies recently, and seeing them at the very beginning of the journey just makes me realize how much has happened in our lives in the past 16 months, and how grateful we are for every second!  Here is whats going on this month:

Wesley stats:
  • Head Circumference - 19.5 in (90%)
  • Weight -  26 lbs (60%)
  • Length -  33 in (80%)
  • Clothes - 18-24 months in all clothes and size 5 shoes.
  • Food - He loves it all!  In the next couple of months I plan to start working with him on using a plate (one that suctions to his high chair tray) and fork/spoon - I may have to wrap my kitchen in plastic before I attempt this :)
  • Sleep - Sleeps though the night!  Pretty much down to one nap a day - naps much better at home (up to 3 hours) than at school (1 1/2 to 2 hours max).
  • Talents/interests - Loves being outside and doing whatever his daddy is doing.  Corey has been working on our backyard on the weekends and evenings lately, and Wesley wants to be out there with him so badly!  He will stand and stare out the back door and beg to go out there.  He's started to really mimic what we do and say - we can make a noise or sound or say a word and most of the time he can repeat it.  Corey has taught him to whistle (which he teases me about b/c I can't whistle).  Lately he's been picking up the remote control and saying 'hello?' like its a phone.  He can say cheese, cookie, milk, juice, bite-bite, ball, bath, mommy, daddy, shoe, bye, uh-oh, and lots of words that only he can recognize :)  He can wave bye-bye, blow kisses, give high fives, and give kisses goodnight when asked.
So thankful for you everyday Wesley man!

    New babies to love!

Last week was busy to say the least - on top of Wesley being sick all week (see my first ear infection post), two of my best friends welcomed new babies!

Jessi had her second baby, a boy, on April 3rd
    William (Will) Blake
Jill had her first baby, a boy, on April 4th
    Jones Tanner

Love these two mommies and their handsome new baby boys!

    Wesley's first ear infection

Wesley had his first ear infection last week and it was pretty pitiful :(

The poor little guy had just been whiny and clingy all weekend.  At first we just thought he was teething because he was running a low fever and drooling a lot, but after two full days of fever we decided to take him to the pediatrician, and sure enough he had fluid in both ears.  And if the double ear infection wasn't enough, he also developed this terrible looking rash on his forehead - the pediatrician didn't really know exactly what it was other that it was some type of bacterial infection.

I ended up having to work from home most of the week because of the fever (can't go to school with a temp over 100 degrees) and also the rash - we didn't really know if it was contagious or not.

I felt so bad for him - it is amazing how quickly they bounce back though.  After his first couple doses of the antibiotic he was back to his old self :)  And I am thankful this was his first at almost 16 months - hopefully he won't have to go though this many more times!
