Circus

Last weekend the Circus was in town, so Corey and I took Wesley on Sunday afternoon.  It was located on the fair grounds and set up in the livestock barn - we didn't end up staying the whole time because it was pretty hot in the barn, but Wesley seemed to enjoy it - he even got to try cotton candy for the first time :)

The lion tamer

This girl was suspended by her HAIR!!  Craziest thing I've ever seen - and she was twirling fire balls!
The camels - they just kind of ran around in circles :)

Jugglers
Unicyclers
I think someone was going to ride a motorcycle in this - we left before we saw it though.  Wesley spotted this when we first got there - it is a ball of course, and that is is favorite right now!

He wanted to pick up rocks - and of course had to taste them!  Such a boy :)

Funny Wesley Story....

Corey told me about this the other morning and I just had to share :)

Corey was taking Wesley to school, and had an apple sitting on the console in his truck for a snack later on in the day.  Wesley of course kept calling it 'ball' and wanted to play with it.  So he hands him the apple and continues to drive.  He said he heard him kind of babbling and saying 'ball', then Wesley started going 'mmmmmm'.....

Sure enough, he was back there eating his daddy's apple!  Must've been a hungry little fella :)

The Cabin

Last weekend we went down to Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs to help my family paint our lake cabin.  The cabin has been in the family since the 60's - my maternal grandparents bought it when my mom was young, so she grew up going to the lake all the time with her family, and it was the same when I was growing up.  I spent a large amount of my childhood at this place - it seems like we were there every weekend in the summer (if we weren't, we were island camping on Lake Ouchita).  I love love love this place and the lake more that I can describe and am sure Wesley will enjoy many family memories there as well!

Wesley playing with his cousins inside the cabin - it was cold and windy when we got there so we had to stay inside with the kiddos during the first part of the day.  In this picture is (from left) Preston (5), Peyton (7), my sister Sarah, and Wesley (17 months).  You can barely see my niece Allison (5) in the lower left corner.

I think they were making sharks with Play-doh - Allison (5), Preston (5), Peyton (7), and Brayden (3).

 Everyone having fun!

The new dock - built last summer

The cabin - not quite one color yet....

 Everyone working hard

Time out for a nap - I'm pretty sure I slept in this crib when I was a baby its that old :)

It warmed up a little in the afternoon, and the older kids went swimming!  Preston jumping off the dock

 Then Allison

17 Months!

Wesley is 17 months old today, and of course just growing cuter by the day!  He is at such a fun age - he is learning and changing so much, definitely turning into an active little boy instead of my little baby - sigh.  Here is what is going on this month:

Wesley stats:
  • Head Circumference - 19.5 in (90%)
  • Weight - 27 lbs (70%)
  • Length - 34 in (90%)
  • Clothes - Quickly outgrowing his 18-24 month clothes and size 5 shoes, so anything new from now on will be 2T and size 6 shoe!
  • Food - The kid is a chow hound - he pretty much will eat anything we put in front of him.  He eats breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as two snacks and 3 bottles of milk a day - he's a growing boy!
  • Sleep - Sleeps though the night - takes one nap a day during the week and two naps most of the time during the weekends.
  • Talents/interests - Wesley is into bouncy balls - he has all kinds and sizes, and that is his favorite toy at the moment.  He likes to play 'chase' with his daddy, and he especially likes it when daddy hides from him then jumps out to scare him.  He will still dance to any type of music that comes on, and loves to go outside - I'm sure he will love the pool and lake this summer.  Some of the words he can say (that we understand) are ball, shoe, hey, hi, bite, apple, banana, mommy, daddy (also dad-do), outside, eye, please, and a couple of his newest - 'mine' and 'no' :)  He can blow kisses, 'sniff' things like flowers/candles, and he's learned how to hush (shhhhhhhhh).
We love watching you grow and learn Wesley - you are our pride and joy!!

    Mother's Day 2011

I really had a Mother's Day weekend since we were home all weekend together AND the weather was awesome!  I couldn't have asked for more :)  Corey and Wesley got me flowers and cards, and then made me a yummy steak dinner!  I am one blessed momma!

Here are a couple pictures Corey took of me and Wesley after church:

And I just had to share my Mother's Day card from Wesley with you guys - it is too cute.  Wesley is OBSESSED (and I am not exaggerating) with balls - all kinds - he has quite the collection.  The picture below is only a sample - this doesn't include all the balls in his ball pit or the ones strewn all through the house!

The child wakes up saying 'ball' and repeats the word constantly - I have all kinds of stories where he points something out (like an orange at the grocery store) and makes sure that everyone in the store knows that it is a ball.  Just today he found an acorn in the yard and had to carry it around for the next 30 minutes telling us that it was a ball.  Anyway, here is the card:

Hope all the other mommies out there had a great Mother's Day!!
