Birthday at the Splash Park

My friend Courtney's son Max turned 3 on August 21st, and she had his birthday party this past weekend at a local splash park.  We had never been to one, but Wesley had so much fun!  He was a little hesitant when we first got there, but once he warmed up he was running all over the place.

Wesley's first trip to the dentist

Wesley had his first trip to the dentist this week and was such a big boy!  I had heard some horror stories from friends, so I was nervous how he would act or if he'd be scared (especially since Corey had told him the dentist pulls out your teeth!), but overall I have to say it went very well!

I took him to a local pediatric dentist's office that only sees children.  The office very much catered to kids and the staff was well trained in how to talk to and interact with the kids while they were trying to clean their teeth or get the x-rays done.  They had TVs on the ceiling so the kids can watch movies while they have their teeth cleaned!  Wesley watched The Lion King.  He seemed to have fun, and I was really pleased with the experience.

The only thing that seemed to bother him during the whole process was having to keep his mouth open for a long period of time, but both the dental hygienist and dentist were patient with him and cleaned/checked his teeth quickly so he wasn't laying down for long.  I'd say the entire appointment lasted 20 minutes - which was good, because we had Natalie with us and I was concerned she would get fussy but it worked out just fine.

 

 

2 Months

 
Natalie stats:

• Head Circumference - 15in (20%)
• Weight - 8lbs 11oz (less than 3%)
• Length -  21.5in (10%)
• Clothes - 0-3 Months (big on her)
• Diapers - Size 1 (big on her)
• Food - The soy formula we had her on was making her constipated, so we called the pediatrician and they suggested switching her back to Gentlease - they said the soy is extremely binding on infants.  She still has gas, but we are using gas drops and Gripe water which seem to help.  She usually takes 5-6 4 oz bottles per day/night.
• Sleep - Still sleeping great.  In fact, she slept the entire night (10pm to 7am) just a couple days ago, but normally will go down between 10-11pm then wake up once during the night around 2-3am to eat.  She wakes up in the mornings aound 6-7am, but will take a bottle then go right back down until around 10am.  Wesley wasn't the best sleeper, so this has been refreshing!  She is still in the bassinet next to our bed, but I'm planning on moving her to her crib in her room soon - we'll see how that goes :) And if it actually happens by 3 months!  It is just so convenient to roll over and change her/feed her than to go to another room.
• Talents/interests - She's a very happy baby for the most part - as you can see from her pictures!  She smiles a lot.  She does have a set of lungs and is not afraid to use them when she is upset or hungry though.  She will fuss and get cranky when she is sleepy - I don't remember Wesley doing that.  She is a mommas girl right now.  She has what we call 'crazy' arms - her arms are really long (she gets that from my side), and when she is uncomfortable or upset she will thrash her arms around wildly in protest.  She hates to be swaddled.  She 'talks' and coos quite a bit.  I can't wait until she starts laughing!  So far she seems to have a sweet, calm personality.  We'll see if I'm singing the same tune when she's 2!

Cousin's Reunion 2012

We attended the 2012 Cousin's Reunion a couple of weekends ago and had a blast!  It was at Mountain Harbor/Shangri La on Lake Ouachita (same location as last year).  I was a little worried about taking a 7 week old, but as you can see from the pictures I had plenty of help :)

We drove down on Thursday night, then Friday we took Wesley to the Mid America Science Museum and spent Saturday on the lake before heading home on Sunday.  Both kids did great on the trip down and back, and we all had so much fun visiting with our family over the weekend.
