Playing at the park

We have a really great park that is less than a mile from our house - we haven't visited it as often as we would have liked due to the extreme heat this summer, but I love that we have this park available in our town that families can enjoy for free!  We took Wesley to the park the other night to let him run some energy out :)

21 Months - from the beach!

Wesley stats:

**I'll have to guess at his measurements this month since I don't have anything to measure him with on vacation!!
  • Head Circumference - 19.75 in (90%)
  • Weight - 30 lbs (80%)
  • Length -  35 in (90%)
  • Clothes - 2T (and some 3T) in clothes/PJs and size 7 shoes
  • Food - Wesley is such a good eater and really always has been - lately he will resist when we try to get him to try new things, but if he discovers it on his own (Mr. Independent) then he'll at least give it a try.
  • Sleep - Sleeping was rough this month - not sure if he was teething or had a slight cold or just wanted to be with us, but for about a week he'd wake up every night on several occasions.  He seems to be back on track now, and sleeping on vacation has been no problem - by the end of the day he's wiped out!
  • Talents/interests - Wesley is loving the beach!  He likes to play in the sand, then will ask to 'wash' his hands :)  He still doesn't understand the never-ending battle with sand at the beach.  He'll get really into what he's doing, and kind of stick his tongue out so you can tell he's concentrating hard - so cute!  He is learning to help with things around the house (carry in a sack of groceries, toss laundry into the washer, take things to the trashcan ) and I can tell he is going to be momma and daddy's big helper.  We have been talking a lot about pee pee and the potty trying to get him interested, and so far he an recognize when he pees (thumbs up) but now has an obsession with flushing the toilet (thumbs down).  So no savings in diaper costs yet, and my water bill has gone up - but we'll get there.  And since football season is now upon us, we've taught him to call the Hogs which makes me and Corey so proud :)
My son, we are absolutely loving this time together as a family of 3!

Lake Weekend

This past weekend Wesley and I visited my family's cabin on Lake Hamilton.  Corey was in Memphis for a bachelor party, so we headed down to celebrate my parents 33rd wedding anniversary (August 26) and my niece Allison's 6th birthday (August 28th) sans daddy.  We had a blast (but missed daddy of course)!  It was so much fun to watch Wesley with all of his cousins.  Here is the rundown of the Smith grandkids:  Peyton (8), Allison (6), Preston (5), Brayden (3), Wesley (20 months), and Jackson (10 months).  They love spending time at the lake just as we did as kids - and having all those kids under one roof for the entire weekend sure makes things lively!
