16 Weeks - Baby #2

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 16 weeks
Size of baby: Length is about 4.6 inches and weighs about 3.5 ounces (around the size of an avocado)
Gender: Still feeling boy - I'm definitely in the minority though, everyone else seems to think it is a girl!
Maternity Clothes: Wearing mostly maternity pants/jeans, also some dress pants with the belly band.  Still in normal tops (not for long though) and a few maternity tops.
Weight gain: Around 6-7 lbs total
Movement: Feeling some movement, mostly when I am still or have just eaten something - I've only felt a few small kicks here and there so far.
Sleep: Sleeping OK - I have to get up at least once during the night to pee then have a hard time falling back asleep.
Symptoms: Hungry all the time! I'm not as thirsty as I was in the beginning.  Pretty tried by the end of the day, but thankful to be feeling pretty good overall!
Cravings: Tuna fish sandwich and broccoli cheddar soup from Quiznos, with lots of extra pickles!
What I miss: Clothes that fit.  I'm not big enough for true maternity tops, but most of my normal tops are getting too small so I've had to shop a little for this 'in-between' stage :)
Best moment this week: Celebrating Christmas with my precious little family, and realizing that next Christmas we will have a 3 year old AND a 6 month old!  Eek!

15 Weeks - Baby #2

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 15 weeks
Size of baby: Length is about 4 inches and weighs about 2.5 ounces (around the size of a naval orange)
Gender: Back on boy this week
Maternity Clothes: Wearing mostly maternity pants/jeans, also some dress pants with the belly band.  Still in normal tops and a few maternity tops.
Weight gain: About 6 lbs total.  At my doctor's appointment this week, I hadn't gained any since the last appointment (4 weeks before) but I find that very hard to believe with the amount of food I am consuming :)
Movement: Feeling some movement, but only when I am still or have just eaten something - no big kicks yet.
Sleep: Sleeping ok - I have to get up at least once during the night to pee then have a hard time falling back asleep.
Symptoms: Nausea is gone - now I'm just hungry all the time, and I mean all the time! I feel like I'm eating constantly.  Still very thirsty so I try to drink a lot of water during the day, although it does get old - I'll splurge for lemonade or sprite when we go out.
Cravings: Cheese popcorn and molasses cookies!  Corey took me to Red Lobster this week, and I haven't stopped thinking about those cheese biscuits since.
What I miss: Clear skin!  Crazy pregnancy hormones :(
Best moment this week: Hearing the baby's heart beat on the Doppler for the first time at my doctors appointment!  It was nice and strong at 153 :)

Side note: Wesley's heart beat was 150 at this week's appointment during my pregnancy with him so I'm of course thinking boy again - but we'll find out for sure during our ultrasound scheduled for January 27th! Can't wait!!

Cousins 'on the farm'

Over the Thanksgiving holiday my sister, sister-in-law, mom, and I took all the kiddos and headed over to Corey's grandparents house to take pictures.  They live right down the road from my parents, and have a wonderful home and property - complete with a big red barn, tractors, and horses.  The kids call it 'the farm' :)  It was hard to wrangle 6 kids and try to get good pictures, but we had a lot of fun.  Here are a few of the keepers:

(This last one is my favorite of my mom with all the grandkids!)

Dear Wesley

Two years ago today we held you for the very first time, and fell instantly in love.  Having the opportunity to be your parents has been by far the greatest gift we've ever been given! You have taught us so much these past two years about selflessness, love, gratitude, patience, and oh yeah - patience :)  We have so many hopes and dreams for you, and are amazed everyday by the things you are learning and accomplishing.  We love watching the person that you are becoming - I pray that you always know just how much your mommy and daddy love you!  Happy 2nd Birthday sweet boy!

14 Weeks - Baby #2

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 14 weeks
Size of baby: Length is about 3.4 inches and weighs about 1.5 ounces (around the size of a lemon)
Gender: Back on boy this week
Maternity Clothes: Wearing mostly maternity pants/jeans, also some dress pants with the belly band.  Still in normal tops.
Weight gain: 3-4 lbs
Movement: Definitely feeling some slight movement - I only notice it when I am really still, which is next to never (besides when I'm in bed) since I have a 2 year old!
Sleep: Sleeping well, thank goodness.  I'm just so tired when my head hits the pillow these days!
Symptoms: Nausea is pretty much gone - now I'm just hungry all the time!  I feel weak in the mornings when I'm trying to get ready or at night when I've done too much.  Still very thirsty.  Headaches seem to be going away as well - hallelujah!  Love the 2nd trimester.
Cravings: Just food.  Everything sounds good.
What I miss: Being able to get everything done - I just get tired and have to take breaks
Best moment this week: Wesley's 2nd birthday party! (pictures to come on another post)

13 Weeks - Baby #2

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 13 weeks
Size of baby: Length is about 2.91 inches and weighs about 4/5 of an ounce (around the size of a peach)
Gender: Everyone is guessing girl so at this point I'm pretty convinced 'she' is a girl
Maternity Clothes: Wearing mostly maternity pants/jeans, also some dress pants with the belly band.  Still in normal tops.
Weight gain: 3-4 lbs
Movement: I *think* I felt little kicks this week a couple times after eating and also while laying still in bed.  I felt Wesley kick for the first time at 15 weeks, so it could be!
Sleep: Sleeping great this week!  We moved Wesley to a toddler bed last weekend, and he's been doing great so when he sleeps, we all sleep :)
Symptoms: Nausea is pretty much gone.  I feel weak in the mornings when I'm trying to get ready or at night when I've done too much.  Still very thirsty and get headaches in the afternoons.
Cravings: As I write this, I think pizza with green olives sounds good, and also cheddar broccoli soup in a bread bowl.  And maybe some cookies.
What I miss: My flat stomach - don't get me wrong, I love being pregnant (I'm a weirdo), but right now I'm in that in-between stage where I just kind of look like I'm getting fat to people who don't know I'm expecting.  Ready for the baby belly to be obvious!
Best moment this week: I'm officially in the 2nd trimester! (According to my iPhone app :))

12 Weeks - Baby #2

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 12 weeks
Size of baby: Length is about 2.13 inches and weighs about 1/2 of an ounce (around the size of a plum)
Gender: I'm leaning more towards girl this week
Maternity Clothes: I’ve worn maternity pants/jeans every day this week except Tuesday I think - I can still wear normal tops, but you can tell I'm showing.
Weight gain: 3-4 lbs
Movement: Not yet
Sleep: Getting up to go pee at least once a night, but no sleeping issues other than that.  Wesley hasn't been sleeping well this week, so Corey and I have been taking turns getting up with him and I have a hard time going back to sleep.
Symptoms: Neausea has eased a bit this week.  I'm feeling dizzy when I first wake up or move too quickly.  Still very thirsty and get headaches in the afternoons.
Cravings: Sweets!  Also green olives
What I miss: Energy - by the end of the day I am dragging.  I usually go to bed right after we put Welsey down, which is around 9pm.
Best moment this week: Not really baby related, but I got to see Breaking Dawn this week with a group of girls from work!  I though it was really good - although it sure didn't make we want to give birth anytime soon - ha!

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 11 weeks
Size of baby: Length is 1 ½ inches and weighs about ¼ of an ounce (about the size of a lime)
Gender: I say boy, Corey says girl, Chinese Gender chart says girl – we’ll find out in January
Maternity Clothes: I’ve worn maternity pants/jeans more often this week – they are just so much more comfortable!  And it is true what they say, you show a lot quicker the second time around.  I just feel more 'round' in general this time.  Still using the hair-tie trick as well and wearing normal tops.
Weight gain: 1-2 lbs
Movement: Not yet
Sleep: Getting up to go pee at least once a night, but no sleeping issues other than that
Symptoms: Feeling like I’m going to throw up constantly, but starving at the same time!  Very thirsty and tired as well.  Get headaches in the afternoons.  Ready for the first trimester to be over!
Cravings: Thanksgiving foods! And lemonade
What I miss: Having a glass of wine with Thanksgiving dinner - but I just ate more food to make up for it :)
Best moment this week: Went to the doctor on Monday and got to see the baby for the first time!  Also announced the pregnancy to our family and friends over the Thanksgiving holiday – everyone is so excited!

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 10 weeks
Size of baby: Length is just over 1 inch and weighs less than ¼ of an ounce (about the size of a prune)
Gender: I say boy, Corey says girl – we’ll find out in January
Maternity Clothes: I have to admit I’ve worn maternity pants to work a few times, just because I have them from the last time around and they are so comfortable!  But I’m mostly using the hair-tie trick and wearing normal tops.
Cravings: Nothing healthy unfortunately – mostly want pizza or Mexican food
What I miss: Coffee!  I've been drinking decaf, but it just isn't the same :(
Best moment this week: Had a Thanksgiving potluck at Wesley's preschool and loved seeing him interact with all the other kids - he's going to make a great big brother!

23 Months!

One more (short, busy) month and my baby will be 2!  Can that really be true?!?  Wasn't I just pregnant with him?  Sheesh.  It really does go too fast.

Wesley stats:
  • Head Circumference - 19.75 in (80%)
  • Weight - 29 lbs (60%)
  • Length - 36 in (90%)
  • Clothes - 2T (and some 3T) in clothes/PJs/jackets and size 7 shoes
  • Food - Loves grapes!  He asks for grapes in his snack cup every day after school (better than the marshmallows from last month!) He's also digging chicken nuggets and french fries, with ketchup - in fact, he really likes anything with ketchup, or anything that he can dip.  Gross story, but the other night we went to dinner with some friends and he was dipping an orange rind in ranch dressing and licking the ranch off!
  • Sleep - Sleeping ok.  He had about a week stretch where he was waking up during the night, but he's done well since then.  A couple of times we've found him in his crib with only his diaper on - apparently he either gets hot or bored and takes off his PJs!  And he is definitely a grumpster in the mornings - not sure who he gets that from..... :)
  • Talents/interests - Daddy got a new truck this month, and Wesley calls it 'my truck'.  He always wants to go outside and see it!  He loves his boots.  I'd say his favorite 'outfit' these days is a diaper and boots.  Nice.  In the morning it has been a fight to get him to wear normal shoes over the boots - he usually wins.  You pick your battles.  Biggest accomplishment this month is that Wesley has peed in the potty THREE TIMES!!!  We have been talking to him about pee-peeing in the potty for a few months now and trying to stand him there and get him to go before bath time, but this time he has actually came to me and 'asked' to pee in the potty!  He even asked to sit on the potty and poo-poo the other day, but nothing happened.  We aren't officially in full potty training mode but it is a start!
We love you so much buddy and are so proud of what a big boy you are :)

Family & the Razorbacks

This past weekend my parents, sister, brother & sister-in-law and all the kiddos came up for the weekend to visit, and it also happened to be my and Corey's 5th wedding anniversary!  It was hectic having 14 people in the house (6 of them kids) all weekend, but we had so much fun and Wesley loved all the time with his cousins!  On Saturday we took all the boys to tailgate before the Arkansas vs South Carolina game, and my sister-in-law Jessica got some great pictures of everyone enjoying the day!

22 Months! (A day late)

I had every intention of posting this yesterday, but totally forgot when I got home and started running around doing stuff last night!  Life is like that with a 22 month old - ha!

So our little pumpkin was 22 months old as of yesterday, and is getting closer and closer to 2!  Seems so hard to believe that last year this time he was only 10 months old.  Time really does fly when you are having fun!

Wesley stats:

  • Head Circumference - 19.75 in (80%)
  • Weight - 29 lbs (70%)
  • Length - 35 in (80%)
  • Clothes - 2T (and some 3T) in clothes/PJs/jackets (finally jacket weather!) and size 7 shoes
  • Food - He has recently discovered hard boiled eggs, and will ask for one every day when he gets home from school.  He's also a big fan of fruit snacks, marshmallows, and chocolate milk right now.  I know - I'm super healthy mom :)
  • Sleep - Sleeping well this month.  I think he gets cold at night sometimes because he'll pull his heavy 'decorative' blanket from the back of his crib over him at night, along with the baby blanket that is already in the crib with him.  He can be pretty grumpy when he wakes up in the morning, and usually just wants his juice and to watch cartoons for about half an hour or so before he does anything else!
  • Talents/interests - Wesley is really into motorcycles right now.  He wants daddy to take him for a 'ride' every day when he gets home.  He also loves his riding toys - his tricycle and his power wheel 4-wheeler are ridden all over house daily.  He is still the dancing man - we took him to Primetime the other night which was an introduction of the 2011-2012 Hog Basketball team, and while they were announcing the players they would play rap music and Wesley would stop and dance!  It was hilarious - wish I had thought to video it, but I was seriously laughing too hard.  He is doing really well at school (we LOVE his school), and I'm amazed by how much he learns there at his age - he knows several words in sign language including more, stop, thank you, please, airplane, and alligator!

We are enjoying these last couple months we have you as a 1 year old, because we know you will only be 1 once!

Vacation 2011

We recently traveled to Fort Walton Beach for our first vacation as a family!  I was so excited to take Wesley to the beach for the first time - when I was growing up, my family went to the beach almost every year on a week long vacation, so I couldn't wait to share some of those same 'beach' memories with him.  We had a blast - the weather was great (it rained the very last day, which was packing day anyway), and we all enjoyed relaxing on the beach, shopping, eating seafood, and playing in the ocean!
